Hotel
Located in the heart of Rome just a few steps from Piazza di Spagna, Hotel d’Inghilterra combines a centuries-old history with elegant modernity reflected in precious details. Completely renovated with the deepest respect for the history of the palace, our hotel is an icon of Italian hospitality and has always been a must-visit destination destination for refined global travelers and renowned figures.
A journey through history
Originally an aristocratic residence, Hotel d’Inghilterra became a hotel in 1845. Until then, the doors of the sixteenth-century palace had only opened for the important guests of the princes of Torlonia, one of the city's most prominent noble families.
The hotel immediately became a destination for illustrious visitors and owes its name to the English poets Keats, Byron and Shelley, and all the English aristocrats, who chose it as a favorite spot for their stays in Italy at the time of the Grand Tour.
The logo, inspired from the crest of the English royal family, testifies to the deep connection with the UK and the crown of the Windsors. Over time, the refined rooms of the Hotel d’Inghilterra have continued attracting writers and international celebrities, who chose it for its unique atmosphere and enviable location. Franz Liszt, Hans Christian Andersen, Mark Twain, Henry James, Ernest Hemingway, Liz Taylor and Gregory Peck are just some of the personalities we've had the honor of hosting.
